Florence Program Assistant Application Requirements
All applicants to FSU Florence's Program Assistant position are required to submit an application and the supporting documents listed below via our applications site. Appointments at FSU Florence are semester-long. 

Please note that within this application, you will be indicating your interest in working abroad at FSU Florence during either Summer or Fall 2026, or both.

Preference may be given to previous FSU Florence program participants who will have graduated before beginning the position in Florence. In addition to pastoral and cultural duties, Program Assistants can expect up to 20 hours of paid administrative work per week.

  2. Resume
  3. 1 page essay describing the following:
    • How being abroad would advance your academic and personal goals
    • Tell us about a time when you failed. How did you learn from this experience?
    • How do you handle negative feedback?
    • Tell us about a time you made a mistake at work. How did you resolve the problem, and what did you learn from your mistake?
    • Describe a time when you felt stressed or overwhelmed. How did you handle it?
    • Tell us about a time when you led by example. What did you do and how did others react?
    • Give an example of when you had to work with someone who was difficult to get along with. How did you handle interactions with that person?
  4. 1-3 recommendation letters from professional references
  5. Transcripts from all colleges/universities attended


Summer/Fall 2026 Florence Program Assistant Application Timeline

Applications Open: Monday, December 15, 2025

Application Deadline: Thursday, January 15, 2026

All applicants, regardless of outcome, can expect notification of hiring decisions by April 2026.

Anticipated appointment dates: Summer Program Assistants will be abroad from May through July 2026. Fall Program Assistants will be abroad from September through December 2026.
